CCS Computer Science Plan
CCS is preparing a computer science plan because of the Future Ready Iowa Act, House File 2629, which requires all districts to have a computer science plan in place by July 1, 2022. Below is a summary of the requirements for districts, a timeline of when the requirements should be in place, resources, and training available to help districts prepare for next year’s deadline.

CCS Implementation Timeline:
Attend the PLAEA Computer Science Workshop December 2021, Mrs. Coble-Day and Mrs. Larrabee
Teachers begin doing CS first coding, bee bots and other computer science enrichment activities within their classrooms, winterspring 2022
Teachers begin doing research on computer science curriculum, winter-spring 2022, including: CSfirst (google), Seesaw
Computer Science Philosophy approved by SIT and school board, April 2022
Computer Science plan submit to the Department of Education July 1, 2022
Professional Development for teaching staff and the administrator provided by AEA will begin August 2022 and continue throughout the school year to determine staff and school needs, selecting curriculum and enrichment activities, etc.
Review Iowa Computer Science and CSTA K-12 Computer standards and begin to get an understanding of them, August 2022
Teachers take the Computer Science self-paced standards modules through AEA online, August 2022
Select and have approved the Computer Science curriculum spring 2023 that will be used beginning fall 2023
